I haven't had a remote to unlock the doors of my '96 Ford Crown Victoria for years. I'm not sure what happened to the remote when my grandpa first gave me the car. I remember using it, but somehow it got lost. Since then, I've just opened the door and trunk the old-fashioned way—with the key. Five years ago, I decided to lay down some money to get a new one, but the plastic loop on the bottom of the remote broke. Without it, I couldn't attach it to the key ring, and it eventually got misplaced. Back to using the key. Well, I recently decided it was time to get another remote. After looking around the internet, I landed on buying one through Car & Truck Remotes, which I highly recommend. It was easy to order at a great price ($23.16 with shipping & tax). They shipped it quickly and the setup worked just as they recommended. Here are the 4 simple steps I followed to sync it to the car.
First, open the trunk and look for a sticker with a five-digit code on the underside.
Second, enter that number in the keypad on the driver's side. The locks will come up. Then, immediately hit the '1/2' button on the keypad.

Third, push a button on the remote. It will make the locks go down and up again, signaling that the remote is paired.
Lastly, hit the '7/8' and '9/0' buttons at the same time to tell the car you're done. Your new remote is ready to work! Test it out.
